Poster Project

For this assignment we were told to create a poster that portrayed a message. I chose to go with breast cancer due to it being October and my mom's own battle. With this project I failed to meet the four color minimum, but I definitely learned the importance of simplifying my work. I really struggled with the variations of the grays, but overall I did like the how I successfully portrayed my idea for the poster.

MESH TOOL: SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON

For this project we were assigned to take a household object and create a mesh of our chosen object in Illustrator.  I chose a lizard, because I thought with the multiple colors/shades it would make it an interesting project to use the mesh tool with.

ILLUSTRATOR LOGOS: PR AND COMMUNICATIONS

*back of card*

*front of card*
Personally for me this was the logo I had the hardest time with. After suggestions from Professor Santiago I chose this logo since it incorporates not only myself through the use of my initials, but also my future career path of PR/Communication. Which is displayed through the use of the two circles used to symbolically suggest the conversation/collaboration between two people. Overall, I chose colors that are my favorite and tried to be simple and clean overall on the design.

ILLUSTRATOR LOGOS: CAMP COUNSELOR

*back of card*

*front of card*

For the past few summers I have been a summer camp counselor. In order to portray my camp life in the summer I decided to use the hashtag for the front of the card as a lot of camp jokes that occur in the summer we save as hashtags for the end of the year cookout and performance. More specifically with the logo I chose to incorporate simply a few of my favorite things and things that I think of that is related to camp. Of course I chose to make a stick figure human the center of the logo since camp is targeted to be about the people there. Lastly, I chose to be very simplistic with this logo as that is camp it is nothing fancy or anything just time to have fun and be away from everyday life.

ILLUSTRATOR LOGOS: PETSITTING

*back of card*

*front of card*

One of my side jobs I have had over the past few years is petsitting for a few families in the local Tampa area. I decided to use the text path that we recently used in class to form a paw because I thought it would be a good way to incorporate the personal details of my experience within the logo. I also chose the color scheme and the pattern with stripes to incorporate the south tampa feel as patterns are very popular in the area.

ILLUSTRATOR LOGOS: TUTORING

For this logo, I purposely wanted to have a more childlike logo as I am used to tutoring children within the pre-school and elementary age. I decided to choose the owl with glasses since to me that is easily incorporated with education, particularly with younger kids. I also chose to add the bow to give it the feminine touch. Lastly I chose to go with the radial gradient with varying shades of green to give the idea of the background being a chalkboard which was the font I chose to match the background.

ILLUSTRATOR LOGOS: SUSHI RESTAURANT

For this logo, I was inspired by the current job I hold at a local sushi restaurant. In creating my logo I wanted to integrate my ethnicity of being 50% Chinese and 50% White by including chopsticks, a fork, spoon, and knife. Also, I decided to include the characters for my middle name (Lei-Jing) which I have as the name of my "imaginary" restaurant on this card. Lastly I decided to incorporate the three sushi rolls to form apart of my middle name's Chinese characters to fully make the personal connection to myself with my logo and job.

THE PROCESS OF CREATING MY LOGOS

In class we were assigned to create five logos that represented five personalities/jobs that could be found on our personal resumes. For my five personalities/jobs I chose: sushi, camp counselor, tutoring, PR/Communications, and petsitting. Below is pictures of my sketches I drew prior to creating my logos on Illustrator.
